Castell-y-Gaer is a sub-rectangular enclosure, measuring c.108m NE-SW by 74m, tapering to c.30m on the SW, having a NE facing entrance, overlies an oval hilltop enclosure, c.240m NE-SW by 130m, resting on its circuit on the NW & W, both circuits being defined by scarps.
