Penuel Baptist Chapel was opened in 1877 when two terraced houses were knocked into one. This chapel closed in 1950 and was re-opened by the Salvation Army c.1980. A new Citadel was built on the site in 1991, in the late 20th century style with a long-wall entry plan and large pane flat-headed windows.
