Description
Cysylltau Bridge is a road bridge over the river Dee. An inscription of '1697' probably relates to the date of construction, although only the south arch and the lower part of the south pier appear to date from this period. The rest of the bridge probably dates from the 18th century, when the bridge was widened slightly. Constructed of ashlared sandstone, the 3-arched bridge has full-height cutwaters forming triangular refuges on both sides of the narrow road. The segmental arches have slightly recessed voussoirs. The south arch is a shorter span and slightly narrower than the others. The south pier is twice stepped and the north pier is stepped once.
