[Additional:]
An early C17th winged gentry house dated 1616 by inscription. The winged (roughly cruciform) plan is characteristic of lesser gentry houses (cf. 'Houses of the Welsh Countryside', figs 139-42). At Plas Newydd the hall and parlour block have projecting storeyed porch and projecting rear kitchen wing. The house retains period detail, including 'roll-moulded beams. The house is associated with a substantial barn. RFS/RCAHMW/June 2018
