Description
An extensive area of mining or mining trial activity. The site consists of two roughly parallel areas, a short (at the N side) and a longer linear area of excavated hillside, including at least one shaft of indeterminate depth. The two lodes or excavations run in a WSW - ENE direction. The northern linear excavation is about 66m long and the southern example 244m long. There are various spoil tips and one of the excavations has some surviving wooden shoring in place. The whole site is a part of the nearby Cefn Coch mining complex and this area was probably the main source of the gold bearing ore for the processing works.
