Description
A deserted rural settlement which is designated as Moelfryn on the first and second edition 25? O.S. Maps (1885, 1905). The site was a large farm complex comprised of a farmhouse, cowshed and pigsty as well as several other buildings and enclosures. By that 1999, the buildings had fallen into a ruinous state although walls survived to a height of two metres in some places. To the south-west of the main settlement was a pile of stones, likely another structure, although none is noted on historic O.S. maps. A disused quarry marked on the modern O.S. map may also have been associated with the house, although it was utilised more recently by the Forest Enterprise in road construction.
