Description
Melin Rhos-Fawr was built in 1757, and ceased work c1910, though all three editions of the 25-inch O.S. map, 1889, 1900 and 1920, show it as a working corn windmill. The maps and a 1903 photograph (Guise and Lees p102) show what appears to be a discontinuous stone platform, interrupted by the two opposed doors, to provide access for adjusting the common sails. The tapering rubblestone tower is roofless and the top few feet have been removed, but the rest appears to be in sound structural condition. The interior has been entirely gutted, and some of the holes which once housed timbers have been filled, making interpretation difficult.
Though roofless, the tower is used as a store.
