The village of Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant is on the border between the old counties of Montgomeryshire and Denbighshire (lower and upper divisions of the village) . It is known for the nearby waterfall, Pistyll Rhaeadr, which has a fall of two hundred and forty feet, and the surrounding picturesque scenery which attracted visitors from the 18th century. It has a medieval church, St Dogfan's (Nprn, 223).
