Raised after the First World War and unveiled in November 1932, probably by E R Hinchsliff, borough surveyor. Reconstituted stone war memorial with inscriptions "In proud memory of the men of Barry who fell in the Great War, 1914-1918, 1939-1945", "For freedom". Central core of truncated tapering obelisk has, to each side, narrower vertical plain panel stepped down; panels on base with inscriptions in Welsh and English.
