On the 12th August 1910, the North Wales Express announced that Mr. Andrew Carnegie had offered £1,500 to Llanddeiniolen Parish Council to go towards the establishment of a Free Public Library. Mr. Carnegie was a prolific philanthropist and had already donated money for the building of libraries across the English speaking world. By 1914, the library in Deiniolen was complete, and the Herald Gymraeg reported that it was a very beautiful and comfortable building, well stocked and well-used by the community.
