Description
The Conbelin Cross, now part of the Margam Stone collection (NPRN 94512) is now housed in the Margam Stone Museum, in the former village school building, but originally stood outside Margam Churchyard. The disc-headed cross slab is decorated with celtic knotwork, flanked by figures of the Virgin Mary and St. John, and this rests in a quadrangle base engraved with a hunting scene.
The Pennant sandstone is inscriped with the name of the donor; `CONBELIN P[O]SUIT HANC CRUCM P[RO] [A]NIMA RI[C?]? ? `Conbelin erected this cross for the soul of Ric...?.
