Description
Painted on the ruined gable wall of a cottage known as Troed-y-rhiw, is graffiti reading 'Cofiwch Dryweryn' (Remember Tryweryn), urging remembrance of Tryweryn Valley near Bala which was submerged by a reservoir, Llyn Celyn (nprn 632), in 1965. It is thought to date from shortly after the valley was drowned and is one of the few surviving examples of protest graffiti from that event. It has been variously renewed and repainted over the years with the same slogan. In 2009 it was announced that a fund would be established to repair and protect the monument.
