Description
NAR LIN 33
A c.6.2km boundary dyke with a W facing ditch, running NW-SE between Gop Hill (Gop cairn - Nprn306725) & Coed Pen-y-Gelli.
Previously seen as a part of Offa's Dyke (Nprn306866), the spatial isolation of the Whitford Dyke makes it more suitable to record it seperately.
Beyond Coed Pen-y-Gelli, the linear earthworks abutting the Holywell circle (Nprn306878) can be viewed as components of a ritual monument complex, and those further S, at Llyn-du Nprn300495), as a separate monument.
The relation of this monument with these other dykes, in addition to Wat's Dyke (Nprn306867), running roughly parallel, c.5.0km to the E, is uncertain.
