DescriptionThe long stone rubble retaining wall adjoining the lifeboat house, and sloping upwards from the beach to the cliff at New Quay, was built c. 1863. Behind the wall is the sloping slipway onto which ships were hauled by the patent slip mechanism installed in 1863 and dismantled in 1901. In four cavities on the front wall are 4 massive iron rings with attached chains.
