Description
Wide-spreading set of rectilinear terraced fields, some containing contemporary ridge and furrow, preserved on a narrow tract of common land between more heavily cultivated and improved modern fields. They are matched by a comparable set of fields to the east at Brynawel (NPRN 24312). A Romano-British origin was postulated for these fields by Blaise Vyner. New aerial photography by the Royal Commission on 24th January 2013 under snow added much new detail to our knowledge of these fields, showing addtional likely platform houses to the west and east, and a pair of previously unrecorded round barrows to the north-east (NPRN 418388).
