The planned Llangurig Railway Station on the Manchester and Milford Railway (nprn 91660) was to be set in a shallow rock cutting above the village. It is believed that the rails were laid in 1864 and a passing loop installed but no buildings or other facilities were completed. The line was officially opened in 1872 but lifted around 1882, reputedly having carried only one goods train.
