Description
Cardiff Corporation's Electric Power Station on Newport Road, Roath, began supplying electricity in 1902 when the first electric trams ran in Cardiff from the Tram Depot adjacent to the south. The power station was served by a siding off the Roath Branch of the Taff Vale Railway. Wooden cooling towers were superseded by two concrete ones, begun in 1941, completed by the middle of 1942 and subsequently camouflaged The power station, including the cooling towers, and the tram depot were demolished in 1972.
