Description
Ynys y Capel is the name of a low-lying field (number 328) listed in the mid-nineteenth century Tithe Schedule for this parish as belonging to Cwrt y Ceidrim farm (now Plas Farm). The field is located some 600m south-west of Plas-mawr (NPRN 17711), and the chapel reputedly stood on the bank of the Afon Llwchwr (River Lougher). A slight depression reportedly marks the site. It is noted that around 1874 a stone inscribed with letters was brought from the site to Cwrt y Ceidrim House (now Plas-mawr) and used as a doorstop. The inscription had worn away by 1914.
