DescriptionAn enclosure within which lie the remains of three buildings and a grassy platform, all of medieval or later date, is situated on a NE facing slope overlooking Cwm Haffes. A minor stream runs through the settlement.
The subrectangular enclosure measures 155m (NNW-SSE) by 120m, bounded on the NE by the scarp of the Haffes gorge and elsewhere by a spread stony bank averaging 2m wide and 0.5m high. The bank is incomplete on the N corner, slight on the W, and flanked by a ditch on the S.
The three buildings are all rectangular, defined by spread walls of rubble. The largest, at SN 83751697, is built against the enclosure bank and measures 7.3m by 5m, walls spread to 1.5m wide and 0.3m high; another at SN 83791689 lies close to a spring; the third, close to the scarp of the gorge at SN 83871691, is built on a platform with a ditched hood. The grassy platform, at SN 83821697, measures 7.3m (NE-SW) by 5m, is cut back to a depth of 1.5m and built out to 2.5m high.
