Description
One of the earliest domestic buildings in Butetown, number 6 Bute Crescent was built around 1840. It consists of four storeys and basement, with a stuccoed facade and an iron rail surrounding the basement. The fourth storey, which is above the cornice, was likely added at a later date, as the surrounding buildings, which number 6 closely resembles, are all of three storeys. There is a second cornice with balustrade above the fourth storey. There is a large tripartite window in the rusticated first-storey. The entrance is a single door with a rectangular fanlight above which is a cornice supported by corbels. There are similar cornices above the second-storey windows.
