The Centre for Alternative Technology was founded in 1973 on the site of Llwyn-gwern slate quarry near Machynlleth. Since then, it has grown to become Europe's leading eco-centre. There are numerous interactive exhibits and displays concerned with the search for globally sustainable, whole and ecologically sound technologies and ways of life.
