DescriptionNAR SN54NE1
A natural knoll, once thought to be a motte: may be connected with 'Gwestfa Kestyll Bygeyd' (Dodgshon 1994 in Cardigan. County Hist. I, 348).
'Two long barrels of fire arms' were reportedly found 'buried in the sand & gravel of the mound' (Davies in Trans. Cardigan. Ant. Soc. 9 (1933), 35).
Following ploughing (Sept. 2001) the site produced quantities of rubble, some with mortar adhering, and a sherd of early post medieval (? 17th century) pottery.
