The tombstone of St Afan, murdered nearby (Nprn305020), first recorded as standing upright in Llanafanfawr churchyard, however in its present form the tomb resembles 18th - e.19th century 'altar', or table tombs in the cemetery, and the inscription on the slab,
HIC JACET SANCTUS AVANUS EPISCOPUS
dated stylistically to the 12th - 14th centuries, may be as recent as the form of the tomb suggests.
