Description
An artificial mound, 10m by 1.0-2.0m, remained after road widening in 1971, the W part of which was removed in 1973.
Has been seen as an alternative site for Llanrhystyd castle, whilst thought locally to have been a mill race spoil heap.

An alternative local tradition is that it was where the "Danes" were buried following a battle.

[Additional:]

Site assessed by C J Spurgeon & H J Thomas, Archaeology in Wales 13 (1973), p. 44: 'sections of the full height and width of the mound show it to be entirely artificial.' Mound almost completely destroyed by road widening (1971) and new building (1973), and subsequently by a plantination.

The C19th cottage built against the north side of the mound is said to be called Castell Bach (O.S. Card).
