DescriptionFounded in 1759, Dowlais Ironworks developed to become the largest ironworks in the world during the nineteenth century. Iron and steel production ceased in 1930, production having moved to East Moors Works (nprn 305757) in Cardiff, and the site was largely demolished except for the Blast Engine House of 1909 (nprn 33697).
