Local authority housing estate located just off the A483 /A539, approximately seven miles south west of Wrexham in North Wales, between the communities of Cefn Mawr and Acrefair. Approximately 1800 people live there.

The estate is served by a leisure centre although a lack of other services has led to the estate being ranked as the third most deprived ward in Wales. The Index of Multiple Deprivations 2000 was the result of research undertaken by Oxford University on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government. It looked at a series of indicators including income, health and employment.
