DescriptionHerbrandston, along with Llanfihangel-y-creuddyn and Colwinston, is one of three so-called "Thankful Villages" in Wales and one of 51 in the United Kingdom. These are villages with no traditional war memorial because all who left to fight in the First World War (1914-18) were lucky enough to return home. Herbrandston is one of 14 "Double Thankful" villages, where everybody who left to fight also returned from the Second World War (1939-45).
