Abercarn Lower Baptist Chapel was built in 1847 to the design of architect E. Rogers of Abercarn. The chapel was then rebuilt in 1883 by architect E.A. Lansdowne of Newport, in 1895 by architect E. Harris and for a third time in 1904 by architect R.L. Roberts of Abercarn. The 1904 chapel was built in the Simple Gothic style of the long-wall entry type.
