DescriptionMaengwyn Methodist Chapel was built in c.1784, rebuilt in 1822 and rebuilt again in 1867. The present chapel, dated 1867, was designed by architect William Henry Spaull of Oswestry and built in the Gothic style, with a gable entry plan, integral tower and ogee-headed windows with diamond glazing. The recorded cost for this building was £3500 and stone from the Talerdigg railway cutting was used in the construction, with the front and sides of the building featuring contrasting sandstone from Ruabon in Clywd. The chapel has a seating capacity for 700. Maengwyn is now Grade 2 Listed.
