Description
The second Soar Independent Chapel in Nantmeichiad was built in 1888 to replace an earlier one on a different site dated 1833. The first has since been converted into a house. Soar (2) is built in the Vernacular style with a gable entry plan, with stone walls and a slate roof. There is a plaque that reads 'Soar/ Addoldy/ yr Annibynwyr/ Adeiladwyd cyntaf/ 1833/ Am presennol/ 1888' in the end gable of the porch, beneath a bargeboard punched with heart motifs. Both the porch entrance and window in the end gable have raised stuccoed lintels and key blocks. Soar (2) was converted for residential use during the late twentieth century.
