Description
Capel Bach was the site of the first meeting of the Independent cause in Pen-y-Bont-Fawr in the late eighteenth century. The eighteenth century house was transformed into a place of worship in 1782 when ?a lease was taken of a house belonging to David Jones, a weaver, in the parish of Hirnant, and which came to be called "Capel Bach?.? Services took place here for approximately 40 years until a new Independent Chapel was built in Penybontfawr (NPRN 11475); this was opened in October 1832, with services being held both in Capel Bach and in the new. Capel Bach fell into disrepair and in the early twentieth century served as a cow-house.
