St Mary's is located on the east side of Bridge Road in Cwmbach. Envisaged as a Mission Church, it was built in 1881-2 to designs of E.M.Bruce Vaughan, an early example of his work. The church comprises nave and apsidal chancel, north-west porch and south-west vestry. A notable feature is the plate-traceried west window.
Extensive restoration work was carried out in 2011-12.
