Libanus Independent Chapel was first built in 1782 by architect William Edwards of Groeswen and enlarged in 1796. The chapel was then rebuilt/modified in 1831 and 1857, the later to the design of architect Thomas Thomas of Landore. Further rebuilding took place in 1872 to the design of John Humphreys of Treforest and again in 1905. The present chapel, dated 1905, is built in the Italianate style with a gable entry plan and small pane tall round headed windows.
