Description
NAR SO12SW25

1. Cropmarks of a substantially plough-levelled circular defended enclosure or fort set on a bluff of a former river promontory above the valley floor, now skirted by the line of the Brecknock and Abergavenny Canal. The fort is circular, approx. 120m diameter although flattened on the north-east side where it abuts the escarpment edge of the promontory. Cropmarks show a substantial inner rampart broken by clear gateways on the north-west and south-east sides, with a broad single outer ditch. The site was incorrectly rejected by OS; features noted being thought to represent old field banks.
