Descriptiona. Circa 1600 and later. 2 storey. Rubble. Slated. Once two houses. Interior. Beam, fireplace, stone stair.
b. Described in P Muckle as a possible unit-system house. Many phases of construction initiated probably C16th. The original house has a roof with diminishing slates, a unique square dog-leg stone staircase (blocked), an inglenook with a large lintel on corbels. Beams altered and new windows added. Now demolished it had a central chimney of brick. The ceilings are (?mainly) late C19th. The main house is between other structures possibly one of which was a separate house. There are other scattered farm buildings that include a water mill at the NE end of the building range, (the now covered wheel pit survives) for dairy use and a stable that has the remains of a stone-arch doorway, stone kneelers and a timber rack and mangers - this structure has retained a cobbled floor.
