Description
Ornamental wrought iron gates guard the entrance to the south-west drive in the grounds of Furnace Lodge (NPRN 266187), now Milestone (see NPRN 17572). The gates are probably contemporary with the house, said to have been built in 1801. They were originally supported by a pair of square section openwork iron posts, now replaced by stone piers.
There are similar gates at the entrance to the north-east drive (NPRN 17573).
