Cruck 16th century and later 17th and 18th century. Front elevation Georgian and rear largely rebuilt but late Medieval windows. See M/DES file 12. Dec. '70. PRESERVE.


The Vinetree public house was built in two ranges and is parallel with the street. The rear part of the building is of probably late C16 date and is of box-framed construction whilst the front part is apparently C18 and was probably heightened in c1800. The whole building has been refurbished and added to, in the late C20 which has confused some of the evidence. The exterior of the building is of roughcast render with pebbledash which has now been painted white. There is a Welsh slate roof. The building is of double depth central entry plan and it is three storeys high. The centre door is narrow and panelled with a small pedimented hood. There is a canted bay on the right side with sash windows, and on the left side there is three replacement six over six sashes. The windows above are six over six pane sashes at the first floor, and at the second floor there are smaller windows with two plus two pane casements. There is a wide gap between the windows in the centre of the facade. There is also a low pitch roof with a stack at either gable.

Inside the the interior of the rear range is timber framed and is said to incorporate crucks. The ground floor is box-framed and appears to date from c1600. There is also said to be some C18 panelling.
