Description

The tollhouse, which is located midway between Monmouth and Mitchel Troy, dates to around 1810 when the Monmouth to Raglan turnpike road was being upgraded following an Act of Parliament dated 18 May 1810. It probably fell out of use around 1870. The architect Sir Jeffry Wyatville designed toll houses on this route.
