DescriptionMarket hall of 1835 thought to have been built on the site of a seventeenth century market house.
A simple classical two storey building with a slate gabled roof. The long walls facing High Town and Market Street are of coursed freestone. The lower floor is an open hall, entred by double arches in the long walls, closed by railings. The upper floor has three windows in each long wall. Facing High Town the building rests on a rock-faced plinth and rises to a central pediment. The interior retains the oak saircase to the upper floor, where there is an original fireplace.
