DescriptionThe Dry Firing Area, as it now designated, lies at the northeastern end of the Sennybridge range and covers 1362 hectares. Anti Tank North, NPRN, at Pentre Dolau Honddu was established in 1942, and remained in use until 1995. The 'Concrete Road', NPRN 242363 was built across the centre of the area in 1944 by Italian Prisoners of War who were housed in Cwm Owen camp, NPRN 242347. The area has been improved for training purposes since the 1970s. The addition of straight hedges and small conifer plantations helped provide an improved training environment and a series of 'farms' have been built. More recently public access has been improved with development of the Epynt Way and a circular walk and picnic sites at Disgwylfa. J.J. Hall, Trysor, 30 May 2008
