Description
Customs house, thought to have been built in 1736. It is situated on the waterfront, abutting the town walls. By 1852 this was a hotel.
A three storey building, the walls painted roughcast under a slate gabled roof framed by chimney stacks. It faces south along the walls towards the castle with a four bay facade, entered at first floor level via a two storey hipped roof lean-to. The two bay gable end facade has a first floor iron balcony which, with the two storey rear wing, is thought to have been added in the mid nineteenth century.
