Record derived from Defence of Britain Project (Record Number 3200)
2. Vickers Machine Gun Emplacement was built into the north-west side of a local summit located between the Irfon and Chwefri rivers. The pillbox was built from reinforced concrete and roughly shaped stone and covered by a grassed mound of earth. It was built to a non-standard design and is an irregular hexagonal shape with three large stepped embrasures facing West, North-west and North, to defend the road towards Cilmery and the valley of the Chwefri river. An internal concrete firing table survives beneath each embrasure.
