Event and Historical Information:
The JANE JONES was a wooden schooner built in 1867 and registered at Aberystwyth. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 72nt; 67ft length x 19ft breadth x 9ft depth; fastened with iron bolts. At time of loss 14 May 1881, the vessel was owned by J Jones of Aberystwyth (also the master). The schooner was carrying coal from Swansea to Caernarfon when it foundered 6 miles off Porth Dinllaen.
