Event and Historical Information:
The GRACE PHILLIPS was a wooden schooner built by Ellis at Porthdinllaen in 1863. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 86gt; 73ft 9in length x 19ft 6in breadth x 9ft 8in depth; fastened with iron bolts. At time of loss on 25 February 1898, the vessel was owned by T Morgan & Co of Amlwch. The schooner was on passage from Milford Haven to Caernarfon when it was caught in a south-southwesterly gale force 8 and was blown ashore to become stranded 1 mile east of the Clipperau Rocks.
