Event and Historical Information:
The CLWYD was a steel-hulled steamship built by J P Rennoldson & Sons in 1909. Technical and configuration specifications are given as 289gt, 124nt; 125ft 2in length x 22ft 7in breadth x 9ft 4in depth; 1 deck, 3 bulkheads, quarter deck 40ft, boat deck 8ft, forecastle 19ft; screws propulsion powered a single steam boiler linked to a compound engine producing 45hp; machinery aft. At time of loss 19 December 1917, the vessel was owned by Point of Ayr Collieries Ltd and was registered at Liverpool. The vessel was in transit from Dublin to Point of Ayr when it was in collision with the SS PARAGON of Dublin. The ship subsequently foundered with a loss of 1 crew.
