The site consists of organic deposits which are the remains of a timber platform or walking surface made of split timbers. An area of the site has been partially excavated revealing evidence of toolmarks and man-made holes. Carbon dating of the peat clay and dendrochronological studies (giving dates between 2795 and 2710 BC) of some of the timbers suggest the Neolithic era. The site also contains later deposits which have been dated to the Roman period.
