Description
An 18th-century stone-clad farmhouse, probably originally timber-framed, which was considerably altered in 1865. All that survives from the earlier house is a 17th-century beam, with carved foliage and pomegranates, in the NE ground floor room. This previous house was the home of John ap John and was the first Quaker meeting house. It has a rubble stone N elevation with squared quoins, a slate roof with red clay ridge tiles and two rebuilt brick gable chimney-stacks. A two-storey, two-unit plan the entrance is offset to the right. There are two windows with brick segmental arches on each floor, irregularly spaced, and all renewed. Single-storey attached outbuilding to the W. Symmetrical S front rebuilt in yellow brick with a date stone inscribed 'J.J. 1865' in the central gablet.
