Description
A reservoir, covering approximately 20 hectares. The reservoir was originally constructed before 1813 and is shown on the Ordnance Survey 1" series, surveyed in 1813 . At this time it was smaller than it is today and was approximately 5 hectares in area. It was constructed to supply water to the Nantyglo Iron Works. The reservoir was enlarged to its current size in the later half of the 20th century and after the decline in the steel industry became a non-industrial source of water managed by Welsh Water.
