Description
On the north side of Cefn Bryn, well below the crest of the ridge, three cairns were noted by OS in 1956 at SS50508955 (A); SS50528952 (B); and SS50628952 (C). They remain visible as originally described: all have diameters of 5m and heights of 0.3m. Cairn 'A' has been dug into.
Recent clearance of bracken has revealed other irregular spreads of stone, probably those referred to by J.G.Rutter (local correspondent with OS) who first identified the site in 1949, noting 9 mounds. The cairnfield occupies a terrace on the north slope of Cefn Bryn. The spreads of stone identified probably result from the cultivation of this terrace.
