Description
NAR ST49NW19
A multi-vallate hillfort, enclosed area about 10 acres. The site is broken up by lanes and field boundaries, but is still broadly as described by OS.
The enclosure utilises a spur the steep sides of which form a natural defence on the N, W and E sides. The easiest approach is from the S where strong ramparts cut across the neck of the spur. The S and W sides consist of triple ramparts and there is a fragmentary double rampart along the E side. On the N the sub-triangular annexe is formed by a wide interspace between the inner and the outer banks.
